OCR: Although the remaining members of Joy Division were saddened by the loss of their friend, they took the rest of 1980 to write new songs and kept only two unrecorded songs from Joy Division: "Ceremony" and "In a Lonely Place." Renaming themselves New Order, the three-piece band performed live around Manchester with little or no hoopla. They also played four US shows in Hoboken, New York City, and Boston. This visit to the US provided an opportunity to record "Ceremony" and "In A Lonely Place." These songs were released in the early part of 1981 on 7-inch and 12-inch formats. The vocals in these formative gigs were handled by all members of the band.
